Barber FAQ

What is the cost

The barbershop application is free to create your store, manage your queue.

If a client makes a mobile booking the barber will collect the booking fee as part of the transaction. We will invoice the barber for the fees you have collected.

As new advanced functionality is released Barbers will have the option to subscribe to those modules.

Do I pay for everyone that registers

No. In store check-in’s do not attract a fee for barbers or clients. Only people who book via the mobile app will pay a booking fee. The majority of people will check-in and not create an account with SLIKR, even registered users can check-in at the barber shop without any cost.

Can I still take bookings or not check people in

No. For the queue to work people need to check in. The queue management is advanced and does support future reservations but it is not a traditional booking system. The barber will benefit from reporting and analytics to improve performance so there is a lot of value in understanding your clients, traffic, and peak periods.

We recommend moving from your old booking system to our advanced queue management but if you wanted to transition a store could be split. A set number of barbers or chairs dedicated to walk-in’s and our queue management could be established.

How do I create my shop

While in trial we are registering barbers to help us ensure a quality service. Please email barbers@slikr.com.au with your contact details and we will respond within 24 hours and it only takes 30 minutes to have you running.

In future: Go to www.slikr.com.au/barbers and download the android app or setup online. It is easy, designed for barbers to complete and only takes 30 minutes.

  1. Create your user account with email or Facebook.
  2. Ask your barbers to create their accounts on SLIKR
  3. Add your store details eg name, address, photos, and select a background image.
  4. Add the services you provide including price, and average time to complete.
  5. Setup your schedules for you chairs and add staff
  6. Add links to your Facebook and google accounts.
  7. Setup the tablet in store and logon!

What happens with no-shows

We suspend users who have 3 no-shows across any SLIKR shops. All mobile users are registered and have an account, to join the queue remotely they need to use the account which we will suspend.

Why the digital barber queue

Most guys are bad at planning. We all love a visit to the barber, we want good, fast, and traditional service but on the day we realize - “I need a haircut!”. Unfortunately, sometimes everyone has the same idea and the barber can be busy.

  1. We will give clients an estimate of how long the queue is.
  2. Make your time productive - secure your place in the queue, leave, track, and return at the right time.
  3. Plan for that day and get your preferred time and track your progress before you actually arrive in the store eg 20 mins ahead or 2 hours ahead.

SLIKR for client will save waiting time and make visits easier.

SLIKR for Barbers will reduce walkouts or people walking past, plus it will smooth your rush periods to keep busy over a longer period.

How does the barber queue work

It is the same as in the barber shop! The queue is dynamic and optimized. Each person will maintain their place in the queue regardless of if they are instore or via mobile. The queue is displayed in store with the wait time for all to see their position.

The barber needs to keep his chair occupied and cutting hair, he selects the next person on the queue and in the store. If you are not in the store he will start the next person BUT you will still retain your place at the top of the queue.

Advanced Reservations – are they bookings

No. Advanced reservations do not book a time. You book a place in the queue for that time.

SLIKR check you into the store for your time preference. You can track the projected start time letting you know if you can arrive earlier or slightly later. We recommend arriving 5-10 mins early. If there is a free seat before your booking and a person is in store the barber will start that service. You maintain your place at the top of the queue for when you arrive in store.

What is the fee

We do charge a small booking fee of 2.5%. You will pay that directly to the barber on top of your haircut free. On the average haircut price ($25) the fee is just under $0.65c for a reserved place, real time tracking of progress, and access to all your loyalty programs for your SLIKR barbers.

We display a breakdown of a booking fee on the mobile so you know you exact charges. Remember it is free to check-in at the barber shop!

How do clients pay

You pay the barber the total fee for haircut and booking at the same time. In future we will be providing mobile payments then you will pay the full amount via SLIKR.

Can I cancel a queue reservation

Yes. There is no fee for cancelling.

To protect the barbers if you cancel close to a reservation time or regularly cancel they may be regarded as no-shows. After a certain number of no-shows your booking rights may be suspended.

Client FAQ

My barber needs SLIKR

Great, you need to tell him! It is an awesome opportunity to help your barber and show him how easy it is. He can be running within 30 minutes and we are here to help.

If your barber joins SLIKR we reward you and say thanks by giving you “A year’s free haircuts” at that barber (see T&C’s).

I need SLIKR

You can download the SLIKR iOS app from the appstore.

Everyone else can access from www.slikr.com.au it will work on any PC or mobile device.

We are working on the Android Client app for a future release!

I do not see any stores

Ensure you have location services on your phone. SLIKR wilk show a message if they are not enabled.

Perhaps there are no SLIKR barbers in your area (about 15km), see the “My Barber needs SLIKR” to get some and free haircuts for you and fill your screen!

What happens to my information

We do not share your personal information or email addresses with anyone. If you subscribe to a loyalty program for a barber you share your name, profile, and history in that shop only. For more information please refer to our privacy policy on our website.

I want to delete my account

We are sorry to see you go. Please send an email to support@slikr.com.au and let us know, we would also appreciate the feedback on why you are leaving so we can improve. The delete will be actioned within 24 hours.
